Bush campaign creates Web site for presidential transition

The transition Web page includes application information for jobs in a Bush/Cheney administration

AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) -- Texas Gov. George W.Bush is taking job applications for a possible presidential administration.

The campaign has created a transition Web site that includes application forms for the thousands of job openings that come with a change of administration. While Internet users can access the Web site, a Bush aide said Sunday the campaign was "still working out kinks," and it had not yet been officially unveiled.

The Web site says the Bush-Cheney campaign is looking for "men and women of the greatest ability and highest ethical and professional integrity." It also warns prospective applicants that "government service is not for everyone."

As evidence of that, the Web site points out the work hours are long and the pace is intense. There is, according to the Web site, "much public/press scrutiny." In addition, it warns that applicants financial history, health, employment, education and other information will likely become public.

In addition to job applications, the Web site also asks for contributions to pay for a possible transition. Federal funds and office space for the presidential transition are being withheld from both Bush and Vice President Gore until a clear winner is determined.
