GOP Consultant Quits New York Campaign
Allegations of spousal abuse cause a furorNEW YORK (AllPolitics, Aug. 8) -- Veteran GOP media consultant Don Sipple has left the congressional campaign of New York Republican Vito Fossella, following a public furor created by the release of an article from an upcoming issue of Mother Jones magazine. The article details accusations of wife-beating made by two of Sipple's ex-wives during a 1992 child custody case.
He denies the accusations, and is threatening Mother Jones with legal action unless the story is withdrawn. In a statement Sipple says he does not "wish to be a distraction for Vito or the campaign." Fossella is running for the congressional seat vacated by Susan Molinari. Sipple worked on the presidential campaigns of Bob Dole and George Bush. |
