Hanson
|
TULSA, Oklahoma (CNN) -- Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, say an Internet impostor claiming to be a member of the teen group Hanson tried to lure an 8-year-old girl to meet him at a concert alone. The young girl, who searched the Internet for information on Hanson, started chatting with someone who claimed to be the youngest Hanson, 12-year-old Zach.
The imposter offered the girl a backstage pass to the Hansons' concert in Tulsa, but said he only had one, so she had to come alone. That raised the suspicions of her father, who urged the person to call to confirm. The call never came, and the father alerted police. Police say they have received several similar calls from other parents.

Halliwell
|
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Geri Halliwell, who quit the Spice Girls just before the pop group started their current U.S. tour, is a leading candidate to star in a remake of the TV show "Charlie's Angels," the New York Daily News reports. The news says Halliwell was initially turned down for the project because of concerns about her weight. But Randy Spelling, the son of the show's producer, Aaron Spelling, reportedly has been lobbying hard for Halliwell. "Charlie's Angels," which starred Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson, was one of the most popular TV shows of the 1970s.

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Pop star Paula Abdul has sold her five-bedroom, 6,800-square-foot Spanish-style villa to Tom Arnold and his wife. Abdul, a former Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader who became a star with her "Forever Your Girl" album in 1988, put the home on the market during the fall of 1996.

Usher
|
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Usher, the 19-year-old soul and R&B crooner, says he took a chance recently and went to a prom -- without security. It was an unusual move for Usher, who usually travels with high security and decoys who look like him, so he has a chance to escape his ravenous female fans. "I had never been to a prom and I thought, 'Maybe I can get away with it.' I didn't take any security. I took a lot of pictures and I wore an all-cream tux. I try to be unique," Usher told The Washington Post for a story published Sunday. Usher's album "My Way" is triple-platinum. His song, "You Make Me Wanna ...," went No. 1,
as did "Nice & Slow." He also acts, appearing on "Moesha," and has joined the cast of the daytime soap "The Bold and the Beautiful."
