Victim's father opposes Spike Lee's Son of Sam movie

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The father of one of a serial killer's victims has blasted Spike Lee's plans to shoot a film in the Bronx based on the 1976-7 murders committed by a killer known as the Son of Sam. David Berkowitz was convicted of killing six people and wounding seven others in random shootings in New York; he is currently serving six consecutive 25 years-to-life sentences. "Only a heartless person would come into this area and shoot a movie about the Son of Sam," said Michael Lauria, father of Berkowitz's first victim, Donna. A location manager for the filming said the movie was not focused on Berkowitz, however, but rather on a group of youths who assaulted a man they wrongly thought was the killer.

Brown confirmed her engagement during an appearance on Canadian music video channel MuchMusic. The Spice Girls also said they were still friends with Geri (Ginger Spice) Halliwell, who abruptly left the group in May.

Macdonald

A sitcom for Norm?

HOLLYWOOD (CNN) -- Former Saturday Night Live cast member Norm Macdonald is looking into a possible network TV sitcom, with sources saying Warner Bros. TV has the edge, offering to team Macdonald with writer Bruce Helford, now the executive producer of ABC's "The Drew Carey Show." Helford and Macdonald worked together earlier when Helford was executive producer of ABC's "Roseanne" and Macdonald was a writer on the hit series. Macdonald's next movie, "Ballbusters," was dropped by MGM and picked up by Universal after his first film, "Dirty Work," failed to live up to expectations.

Allen

Woody and Leo, together at last

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Director Woody Allen says he cast Leonardo DiCaprio in his new film before the young actor broke through to superstardom in "Titanic" and not to draw younger viewers to his films. Allen said that DiCaprio has 12 minutes in "Celebrity," due out this fall, but Allen's studio, Miramax, said DiCaprio's presence in the film "could open the door" to a shift in Allen's traditional audience base. Allen said he'd "believe it when I see it."

Stone

Sharon Stone adds a little spice to celebrity auction

SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) -- Actress Sharon Stone tossed in a few personal items -- including a kiss on the cheek and the ring off her finger -- to help raise $150,000 to house the homeless at a Friday night auctions. The kiss went with a Robin Williams bathrobe that sold for $650, and she sold her 18-carat ring for $3,600. But she topped even that by throwing in a Valentino gown with a pair of Hollywood VIP premiere tickets. The bidding for that package went over $7,000.
