Candice Bergen steps down from Sprint roleKANSAS CITY, Missouri (CNN) -- Sprint Corp. and its most famous spokesperson are parting company: Candice Bergen says that after eight years, she has ended her business relationship with the telecommunications giant. Bergen starred in a string of self-mocking commercials in which grateful customers hounded her as the Dime Lady. "While Candice enjoyed her relationship with Sprint, the mutual feeling was that it was time for both to go in different directions," Pat Kingley, Bergen's publicist, said. Sprint said it had no plans to replace Bergen. Bergen also ended her 10-year-old CBS sitcom "Murphy Brown" earlier this year.
Cameron felt snubbed over DiCaprio's no-show at OscarsNEW YORK (CNN) -- James Cameron admits he is still miffed over Leonardo DiCaprio's decision to skip the Academy Awards this past spring -- an event in which Cameron's epic "Titanic" won 11 Oscars. Cameron tells "Rolling Stone" magazine, "I felt it was kind of a snub, not of the film per se, but of all the other people who did care and had sweated blood for the movie." It was rumored that DiCaprio skipped the ceremony because he was upset that he was not nominated for best actor. But The New York Daily News' Dish column quotes Cameron as saying "The message I got on my machine, like, the day before: 'It just ain't me, bro.' Apparently, getting $4 million to do a juice ad that airs only in Japan is him; going to the Oscars is not."
Pitt, Aniston friendly, but are they engaged?NEW YORK (CNN) -- They maintain they're just friends, but the London Sun says that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are engaged. Aniston, who stars in the NBC sitcom "Friends," and movie star Pitt have been maintaining a close relationship for the last few months while denying rumors they are in love. Now, the Sun reports that the pair have told their parents they're getting married. Aniston's representative told The New York Daily News' Dish column the two have a "relationship" but it's "very early." Pitt's romantic relationships have been closely followed ever since he and actress Gwyneth Paltrow fell for each other, only to break up under the watchful eye of the paparazzi.
Cedric the snake shows up for play's openingLONDON (CNN) -- Cedric the snake is back in the spotlight. The California King snake was set to star opposite Helen Mirren in the climactic scene of the Royal National Theater's "Antony and Cleopatra," but disappeared two weeks ago, and a second snake was brought in while Cedric's handlers searched for him. He didn't reappear until Saturday, causing a commotion in the theater's costume room. Now Cedric is back in his box in the theater's offices, ready for the play's opening, a theater spokesman said Sunday. As Cleopatra, Mirren commits suicide by pressing the snake to her bosom to administer a fatal asp bite. Reuters contributed to this report.
