Airmen from the 728th Air Mobility Squadron fill the fuel tanks of C-17s from South Carolina and Washington state at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey before supply missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.  
Incirlik Air Base

Location: Southern Turkey, 7.5 miles east of Adana.

Personnel: About 1,700 U.S. military, mostly Air Force.

Units: Force includes 39th Air Expeditionary Wing; 55th, 4th, 175th and 94th Fighter Squadrons; plus several British squadrons.

Aircraft: About 60, including C-130 transports, F-16 Falcon and F-15C Eagle fighters, British Jaguar GR3 fighters, KC-135 refueling tankers, EA-6B electronic warfare planes and two AWACS surveillance aircraft.

Role: The air base has a 10,000-foot main runway and 9,000-foot alternate runway. Squadrons based here handle Operation Northern Watch, in which allied aircraft patrol the "no-fly" zone north of the 36th parallel in Iraq. Incirlik was a transit point and first-line medical center during Operation Enduring Freedom, according to military researcher Jane's Online.
